Traditional Japanese Acupuncture
We practice Traditional Japanese Acupuncture and Moxibustion, a form marked by gentle needling and the prevalent use of moxibustion (a therapeutic herb burned near the skin) based on the teachings of world renowned acupuncturist and herbalist Ikeda Masakazu. This style includes typical insertion acupuncture in addition to other other non-insertive techniques such as contact needling, cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, bodywork, and herbal medicine. During any given treatment you may receive any or all of these techniques depending on the condition and what is needed for effective treatment. In addition to private treatments, we also have a community acupuncture and moxibustion room (what we call the AcuMoxa Community Lounge) where we provide shorter treatments in a group setting focused on maintaining progress and continuing care in a cost-effective way. As you make progress in your health goals, your practitioner will adjust your treatment plan to include AcuMoxa Community Lounge treatments in between private acupuncture consultations.
Acupuncture - like any other healthcare practice - requires consistency and repetition in order to see results. During your first appointment, together we will design the right treatment plan for you that allows us to appropriately diagnose, maintain consistency of treatment, and see positive progress in your health. Depending on the duration and severity of the condition, your treatment plan may consist of anywhere from 6 to 30 private treatments with adjunct community treatments and will be adjusted in real-time as we see progress.
